Palestinian worshippers wait hoping to cross the Israeli manned Qalandiya checkpoint and controversial separation barrier, to go to Jerusalem to take part in prayers at the al-Aqsa mosque, the third most holy site for Muslims, on the second Friday of the holy month of Ramadan. Israel imposed a lockdown on the occupied West Bank overnight as part of security measures brought in for Yom Kippur, the Jewish Day of Atonement and the holiest in the Hebrew calendar, the army said.
